The Nashua Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is federally designated to carry out the metropolitan transportation planning process in the Metropolitan Planning Area to include the City of Nashua and the Towns of Amherst, Brookline, Hollis, Hudson, Litchfield, Lyndeborough, Mason, Merrimack, Milford, Mont Vernon, Pelham and Wilton, New Hampshire.
In 2012, the Nashua MPO was designated as a Transportation Management Area (TMA). As a TMA, the Nashua MPO has a stronger voice in setting priorities for implementing projects listed in the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and is responsible for additional planning products. The planning processes for MPOs and TMAs also must be certified by the Secretary of the United States Department of Transportation as complying with federal requirements.
